This is the kind of no-name gem of a village that will never make it to the Lonely Planet and that you just happen to pass through around lunch time when you are bike touring. People watching never gets old. The group of people in the background are all crowded around a man with a loudspeaker proclaiming something about his impressive collection of medicinal supplies: starfish, mushrooms of all sizes, a small alligator, turtle shells, and more unidentifiable and probably rare species. In a village a few days before I passed a man with a bear paw and jars of something presumably bear-related for sale. Chinese medicine is a terrifying thing.
